Women See Bigger Productivity Gains From Hybrid Work Than Men In Commercial Real Estate

53% of women in commercial real estate say hybrid work makes them more productive, compared with just 41% of men.

Hybrid work is giving women in commercial real estate greater flexibility and productivity gains while opening new workplace opportunities, according to research from the Commercial Real Estate Women Network (CREW).

CREW found that 80% of women in the sector said the pandemic increased their work flexibility, compared with 75% of men. Women were also more likely to say that flexibility improved their productivity, with 53% reporting a productivity increase compared with 41% of men.

Hybrid Work Has Not Hurt Promotion Rates

The benefits of hybrid work did not appear to come with a promotion penalty for women, according to separate McKinsey research.

Women working hybrid schedules were more likely to be promoted than those working fully remotely, while promotion rates were similar for women working fully in the office and those working hybrid schedules. The research also found no promotion difference between women working from home two days a week and those working from home three days, according to Bisnow.

CREW’s research found that 33% of women said the pandemic created new opportunities at work, compared with 30% of men.

The report also identified a flexibility gap within commercial real estate, with entry-level employees more likely to face greater in-office requirements than managers and executives.
