A new study from Workthere that surveyed 1,874 European office workers found that what most people seek are fairly simply features in their workplace.
The What Coworkers Want report asked about 48 different office features to determine how satisfied workers are with them, as well as identify areas that could be improved.
The office feature with the largest satisfaction gap — the difference between the importance and level of satisfaction of this feature — is air quality. In fact, 80% of coworkers found it to be an important factor, but just 52% said they were happy with the level of air quality in their workspace, giving this office feature a satisfaction gap of 28%.
Noise level came next, with 78% of workers claiming office noise as an important factor of an office, but only 53% were satisfied with the levels of noise in their workplace.
Temperature had a satisfaction gap of 23%. Over three quarters of office workers said that office temperature is valuable to them, yet only 55% were happy with the temperature in their office.
Around 76% of workers found that access to a quiet room is important to them, but only 54% were satisfied with their current offerings, leaving a 22% satisfaction gap.
Rounding out the top five, 82% of coworkers said that a comfortable workspace was vital to them, but only 61% were content with their work area, leaving a satisfaction gap of 21%.
