The Best And Worst States For Work-life Balance

New analysis from Lensa Insights identifies the best and worst states for a professional’s work-life balance.

Measuring commute times, weekly work hours, Gallup’s well-being index that measures financial security and physical health, and Glassdoor ratings, Lensa Insights was able to determine which states offered the best work-life balance.

The top 10 states included: 

  1. Utah
  2. Vermont
  3. Montana
  4. Wyoming
  5. Maine
  6. Nebraska
  7. North Dakota
  8. Delaware
  9. Iowa
  10. Hawaii

Utah in particular was found to have an average work week of 37.3 hours, and also had some of the highest Glassdoor work-life balance review scores.

Yardi Kube automates flex and coworking operations

Among the worst states for work-life balance were:

  1. Tennessee
  2. Maryland
  3. West Virginia
  4. Arkansas
  5. Illinois
  6. New York
  7. Kentucky
  8. Oklahoma
  9. Texas
  10. North Carolina

Tennessee was found to have one of the worst wellbeing rates, overall low Glassdoor ratings, and an average of 26 minutes for commute times.
