Following its purchase by Varde Partners last year, flexible business space provider Bizspace has expanded its portfolio with the acquisition of Design Works business centre in Gateshead.
The modern centre on William Street comprises three buildings with workspaces from 100 sq ft to 2,000 sq ft, and is home to more than 60 businesses, including architects, recruitment firms, mortgage advisors and sign makers.
As well as offices, serviced offices, workshops and storage units, it offers meeting rooms for hire and has a spacious free car park. There is also an on-site café and a cycle centre with showers.
Design Works was previously owned by PNE, and the company will remain as an occupier at the site. Bizspace staff have been on-site since August 1 to welcome new customers.
Manager Sam Kane and administrator Gillian Bell join the Bizspace team.
“It’s an exciting time for us to be joining Bizspace, with the investment in the company and the new branding just being launched,” said Sam, who has worked at the centre for 10 years.
“I am happy to be working with a friendly team of people and it’s great to hear the plans for the centre.
“The customers think improvements around the building is what Design Works needs, so they are all looking forward to see what Bizspace has in store.”
Budget has been allocated to refurbish communal areas of the business centre, including the reception, toilets, kitchens, vacant suites and car parking. Bizspace’s sales and marketing director, Emma Long, said the company was delighted to have secured the new addition to its portfolio.
“Design Works is a vibrant, modern business centre and this is an acquisition which enhances our provision of office space in the North East region,” she said.
“We have plans to invest in the centre and will soon be introducing new signage with our corporate branding.
“We’d like to welcome all our new customers and would be happy to arrange viewings for any businesses in the region who would like to view the facilities.”
