Hub Australia’s third Melbourne site is located within The Georges Building on Collins Street.

  • Coworking brand Hub Australia has secured its third flexible workspace location in Melbourne.
  • The new space will open in mid-2018 at The Georges Building on Collins Street.
  • The new site brings Hub Australia’s Melbourne coworking footprint to more than 10,000 sqm (107,600 sq ft).

The premium coworking provider for growing businesses, Hub Australia, has secured its third Melbourne site within the iconic The Georges Building at 162 Collins St.

This announcement comes just weeks after securing its second Melbourne site, Hub Parliament Station at 1 Nicholson Street, which together will bring its total Melbourne footprint to over 10,000 square metres and support hundreds of businesses nationally everyday.

Opening in mid-2018 and located at the renowned Paris end of Collins Street, Hub Australia will occupy the mezzanine ground level and the entirety of levels 2 and 3 in the historic The Georges Building. The unique site will service businesses who want to attract and retain staff with a premium coworking offering in a prime Collins Street location surrounded by all the best amenity the city has to offer.

The Melbourne business community’s response to coworking has been extraordinary says Brad Krauskopf, Hub Australia CEO & Founder. “We’ve seen growing businesses of all sizes move into Hub Southern Cross and the demand for space only continues to rise.

“The Australian coworking market is still emerging, compared to international locations, and there is huge potential in the sector, especially in Melbourne where traditional leases are becoming more expensive and businesses are actively seeking out flexibility and an inspiring place for their staff to work.”

“The Georges Building at the Paris end of Collins Street has a rich history in retail, recognised as an prestigious shopping destination since 1889, and we’re excited to be part of a new chapter for this unique Melbourne icon by delivering a premium and unrivalled coworking experience to the area,” says Hub Australia CEO and Founder, Brad Krauskopf.

The Georges Department Store, established by William and Arthur George, moved to 162 Collins Street in 1889 and quickly became a shopping destination for Melbourne’s elite. It was one of the first stores in Australia to introduce lifts and a cash discount system and the legacy of the store still remains after it ceased trading in 1995.

In addition to Hub Australia, other The Georges Building tenants include: leading entertainment venue ‘The George on Collins’, popular steak eatery Meat Maiden, Regent Theatre Holdings, Get Started, Toni and Guy; and Collins St retailers Dolci Firme and Fashion on Top.

Both Hub Parliament Station and Hub Collins Street build upon the successful opening of Hub Australia’s flagship Melbourne location in 2016, Hub Southern Cross, which defined a new era in coworking by delivering premium amenity and design in prime CBD locations. The recent site acquisitions come after significant investment by private investment company, Wingate, in late 2017.

Hub Australia will work with internationally renowned design practice HASSELL to transform the iconic building’s interior and will capitalize on the existing design elements of the space.

The fitout will include bespoke finishes and amenities including café, serviced meeting spaces, parents facilities, gym, end-of-trip with towel service, media room and wellness space.
