E-commerce company Flipkart is in talks with many coworking operators including WeWork and CoWrks, to open a new office space that houses 3,000 workers in Bengaluru.
Sienam Lulla, CoWrks director revenue, declined to comment on any partnership.
Flipkart operates out of a 30-floor office from Embassy Tech Village in Bengaluru. The office is across 8.3 Lakh square feet with a 7,300 seating capacity.
Large companies seeking out coworking spaces is a common trend, with businesses like Paytm, Zomato, Microsoft, and Twitter taking advantage of flexible offices.
Venture capital firm Sequoia India recently announced the launch of Greenhouse, its Bengaluru coworking space and also invested into $20 million in another coworking space, Awfis.
Bengaluru’s coworking industry currently occupies 32% of the market as of July 2018.
JLL India reported that over 13 million people will work out of coworking spaces by 2020, with SME’s taking up 1.5 of memberships.
