Latin America-based hospitality company Selina has announced its expansion into the UK with four new locations in Liverpool, Birmingham, and Manchester. This announcement follows a $100 million series C funding round led by Access Industries, which it plans to use towards expanding across 400 locations worldwide by 2023.
The startup partnered up with Aroundtown and Altshuler-Shaham Properties to acquire a $40 million portfolio of hotels operating under the Hatters brand.
The rebranding is expected to take place in the second half of the year and the properties will feature coworking facilities as well as food and drink options.
“We’ve been looking for the right opportunity to bring the Selina way of life to the U.K. and enter the bustling market with an established footprint — especially in the emerging entrepreneurial hubs of Liverpool, Manchester and Birmingham,” said Rafael Museri, Selina co-founder and CEO.
As for the rest of 2019, Selina plans to open 31 more locations across other European and South American locations such as Germany, Portugal, Brazil, Mexico, and more.
