Two free outdoor coworking spaces are expected to open in Montreal this week. Nouvelle vague will open in the Old Port on Tuesday and Green haรผs in the District Central of Ahuntsic-Cartierville opens on Thursday.
The workspaces are modeled and share the same developers as Aire commune, Quebecโs first open-air communal workspace.
Aire commune sits on a 5,000 square foot terrace with wooden tables, electrical outlets, Wi-Fi, and shade zones. Containers were also transformed into meeting rooms.
โOur summers are so short. Thatโs what motivated us,โ said Marie-Pier Tessier de LโEtoile, Aire commune director. โAnd we saw an opportunity to create a space where people could connect and exchange. The tables are full and, at lunch, people talk together.โ
The new Nouvelle vague location will have an emphasis on the tech and startup communities, with partnerships with innovation ecosystem Quartier de lโInnovation. At Green haรผs, there will be a focus on the districtโs design, urban manufacturing, and technology.
