Female-oriented coworking provider The Wing has opened its first international location in central London.
The five story, 1,114 square meters space was designed by the firm’s head in-house designer Laetitia Gorra with distinct European features.
The first floor features a communal room with floral fabric sourced in Italy, as well as cone-shaped lights from Italian designer Sabrina Landini lining the walls.
“I feel in this space particularly, I went outside of my comfort zone,” said Gorra. “Personally, as I designer, I’ve become a lot more confident and comfortable in my design decisions and really comfortable with going with my gut. I took themes and blew them up — of course as the designer you’re a little nervous as to how that’s going to turn out — but I couldn’t be happier with the end result.”
The workroom has hexagonal tables, phone booths for private conversations and a library with books written by and about women. Each room is also named after famous British fictional characters, such as Lady Macbeth.
The second floor holds an expansive beauty room, as well as several nursing rooms for moms that feature a changing table, wide seating and a small fridge for storing milk.
The Wing hopes to continue expanding in London and across the world, and Gorra said she will continue to design the spaces for career-driven women.
