A new report from Newmark Knight Frank estimates that Downtown Chicago’s coworking footprint will reach 9 million square feet in 2023, up from 3.2 million square feet in 2019.
According to the report, large companies with at least 500 employees have driven recent growth within this market, and will continue to do so in the future.
Currently, WeWork accounts for 33% of the area’s market, followed by Novel Coworking at 10%, Convene at 9% and Industrious at 6%.
While there may be a near-term slowdown of new spaces in the next year or two, 2023 will prove to be a big year for the industry.
