Flexible office startup Upflex has acquired UK-based WorkClub, an online platform that helps users access on-demand workspaces.
The acquisition will create a new branch called Upflex EMEA, the company’s new European headquarters in London, and follows the firm’s expansion into Asia over the summer.
This is Upwork’s first acquisition since launching in 2017 and will expand its footprint to 500 locations totaling 400,000 square feet.
“The fast-growing demand and adoption of hybrid working across the UK and Europe makes London the perfect fit for our European HQ,” said Christophe Garnier, cofounder and CEO of Upflex. “By joining forces with WorkClub, not only do we adopt a grade-A team for this market, but we can address pan-European demand much faster.”
