Social media platform TikTok has joined the ongoing tech migration to Austin.Â
According to reports, the company has signed a 125,000 square foot lease in downtown Austin’s 300 Colorado Street skyscraper. The 353,000 square foot building, which was completed last year, will see TikTok occupy six floors.Â
In addition to this move, TikTok is going on a hiring spree within the region and currently has 97 open positions within its marketing and sales teams, as well as product and corporate support.Â
TikTok has started outperforming its tech competitors, with data showing it surpassed Apple, Facebook, and Google in the ranking for most popular website. Â
Companies within and outside of the tech industry are increasingly turning to Austin for expansion due to the city’s lower cost of living compared to areas like San Francisco and New York.Â
