Research from job search engine Adzuna shows that metaverse job openings are skyrocketing.
In fact, listings for metaverse-related jobs have grown by 379% since last October, including careers related to cryptocurrency, cybersecurity, and more.
“Hiring metaverse experts is the latest recruitment trend to show exponential growth,” said James Neave, Head of Data Science at Adzuna.
Cryptocurrency job openings reached a record-high of 5,302 last month, while cybersecurity positions saw over 64,000 job listings, reaching pre-pandemic levels.
Today, the top openings for metaverse jobs include user interface (UI) experts, animation designers, UX designers, and data scientists.
According to the research, the top industries for metaverse positions included:
- IT
- Creative & Design
- Public Relations
- Advertising & Marketing
- Engineering
- Sales
However, because the metaverse is still in its infancy, interested professionals may be wondering how to fill in these openings with little to no experience.
Neave suggests starting by creating a resume in the metaverse. By doing so, Neave says that prospective employers can learn who are early adopters and willing to take a risk on this emerging universe.
Additionally, professionals can attend virtual networking events, much like they would in real-life.
“Coming together in the metaverse, people can present themselves however they feel confident doing so, which is empowering and emboldening,” said Rebecca Binny, Director of PR and Marketing for RayCo Media. “These new, hyperpersonal communication models can be more authentic, and thus more trust-building, than face-to-face conversations, which are often stifled by social anxieties and power differentials.”
