There are various ways the metaverse could become entwined in the future of work. From immersive virtual meetings, to luxury designer wear, working in the digital world isn’t as far away as you might think.
Now, Meta – the parent company of Facebook and Instagram – is reportedly looking into launching its own form of currency designed for virtual experiences.
‘Zuck Bucks’, seemingly named for Meta founder, chairman, and CEO Mark Zuckerberg, may take the form of in-app tokens, similar to those used in gaming apps.
Reports suggest it’s unlikely to be a cryptocurrency. However, the company is also said to be looking into posting and sharing NFTs on Facebook.
Meta is currently tightlipped. But who knows what might come next?
“We continuously consider new product innovations for people, businesses, and creators. As a company, we are focused on building for the metaverse and that includes what payments and financial services might look like,” Meta spokesperson Lauren Dickson said in a statement to The Verge.
