Coworking Insights’ latest report shows that monthly prices for hot desks grew during January 2021 and January 2022.

The fourth annual 2022 Hot Desk Price Index Report, which compares the pricing of desks across 19,500 coworking spaces in 172 countries, revealed that the average monthly cost grew by 9% worldwide.

The countries that saw the highest hot desk prices were:

  1. Switzerland ($361 per month)
  2. Hong Kong ($344 per month)
  3. Qatar ($314 per month)

The report showed that eight out of the top 10 most expensive hot desk cities were in Switzerland, while the remaining two were in California.

Madison Maidment, chief operating officer at Coworker.com, said that this new data also takes into account the 811 coworking spaces that closed their doors. In comparison, these spaces had an average hot desk price of $172 per month, which is over 16% less than the global average of $206 per month.

“By removing these closed spaces from our database, the global average price for hot desking increases and fits the assumption that smaller, independent spaces with fewer resources were most vulnerable during Covid-19,” said Maidment.
