After closing a Chicago River North location last year, flexible office provider Industrious is reentering the market.

The company’s return to River North will be on West Illinois Street, where it will take up 25,600 square feet of space in a building WeWork once occupied. This will mark the firm’s eighth location in the Chicago area when it opens in August.

In early 2021, Industrious closed a similar-in-size workspace on West Ohio Street. However, more coworking operators have become eager to make their presence known in the city in recent months as workers return to the office under a hybrid arrangement.

For instance, WeWork recently signed a lease for 93,500 square feet in Fulton Market, while International Workplace just opened its 49th location in the region.

“We’re happy to be back in River North,” said Doug Feinberg, Senior Director of Real Estate at Industrious. “Our latest River North location is perfect for members who prioritize work as much as they do play.”
