Meta has announced that developers will now have access to Reels APIs (Application Programming Interface) to further expand and support Instagram’s short-form video feature.

Starting today, Instagram developers can use APIs to schedule and receive metrics for their Reels. Additionally, users will be able to reply to, delete, hide/unhide, and disable/enable comments.

This update will be available in all versions of Instagram Graph API, which connects developers’ apps to Instagram’s platform. By doing so, developers will not have to push their app through additional reviews if it has already been approved.

“We are always looking to improve our content publishing and consumption experiences, whether people use Instagram natively, or via a third-party,” the company said in a blog post.

“After consistently hearing from our developer community that Reels is a top priority, we are excited to introduce Reels to a number of the endpoints that you may already be familiar with.”
