A pastor in this Charlotte, North Carolina suburb is utilizing coworking spaces in what may be a first for the industry.
Chris Brown of Doxa Deo Church in Matthews has opened a coworking space, coined Nexus, in an effort “to blur the lines of where the church left off and the community began.”
“We just said how can we turn around and use that space for the good of the community?” said Brown.
Marking the town’s first coworking space, Nexus offers the traditional offerings seen across the industry, including a cafe, private offices, event spaces, a podcast room, catering and more. Plus, the campus features a preschool for working parents.
Brown adds that money earned at the coworking space goes into supporting nonprofits.
“Every time you buy a coffee or put your kid in the preschool here, or you are a part of something that we do, it’s all a part of making the community a better place,” said Brown.
