Industrious Expands By 30,000 Square Feet as Demand Grows In Austin

Industrious is expanding its footprint in Austin, Texas to meet the growing demand for flexible work environments across the metro area.

The company recently secured a lease for 30,000 square feet in an office building at 7001 Burnet Road in the Crestview neighborhood. The lease was finalized in late August 2024, with the new location expected to open by mid-September.

The lease agreement increases Industrious’ total space in Austin to nearly 170,000 square feet and adds to its position as the second-largest coworking provider in the city — behind only WeWork in terms of space. The Real Deal reports that WeWork has around 400,000 square feet in the city.

The expansion is seen as an indicator of the rising demand for flexible office solutions in Austin’s commercial real estate market.

Companies are welcoming hybrid work models across the U.S., with it now being the leading work environment in the country. Alongside this widespread acceptance, the need for adaptable and scalable office spaces has surged, contributing to a decrease in demand for traditional office spaces/leases.

Work flexibility is increasingly valued not just in the U.S., but also globally, and Industrious’ expansion strategy is positioned to support businesses and individual workers by offering flexible workspaces. Nationwide, Industrious ranks among the top coworking providers in terms of total distribution of space, according to Coworking Cafe.
