As remote and hybrid work models continue to shape the modern workplace, coworking spaces have become a key driver in the transformation of work culture across the U.K. and Ireland.Â
By the close of 2024, the combined inventory of flexible workspaces in the region surpassed 3,300, with the U.K. leading the charge, accounting for 3,090 spaces and Ireland contributing 236, according to Coworking Cafe’s Q4 Industry Report.Â
This surge in coworking spaces reflects the growing preference for flexible, cost-effective work environments, catering to freelancers, startups, and large organizations alike. The U.K. and Ireland’s adoption of coworking solutions positions the region as a global leader in flexible workspace models.
Leading Markets for Coworking Spaces
Greater London remains the powerhouse of coworking, housing nearly 900 spaces, with Central London hosting the majority. However, Manchester has emerged as the North’s flex workspace hub, boasting 78 locations, while Birmingham and Bristol follow closely with 55 and 53 spaces, respectively.Â
Scottish cities such as Edinburgh (46 spaces) and Glasgow (39 spaces) also show strong demand, alongside Cardiff in Wales (33 spaces). In Northern Ireland, Belfast leads with 27 coworking spaces.
Across the Irish Sea, Dublin dominates with 120 spaces, representing over half of Ireland’s total stock.

In the U.K., pricing for coworking spaces varies widely, the report shows. The median cost for a dedicated desk stands at £210 per month, with open workspaces priced at £156.Â
However, Brighton and Hove top the charts, with prices reaching £300 for a dedicated desk and £220 for open workspaces, driven by high demand in this coastal city. In Greater London, virtual office memberships are the priciest, reaching £100 per month, while meeting rooms cost £48 per hour.
In Ireland, the median price for dedicated desks is €277 per month, with open workspaces at €200. Despite Dublin’s dominance in the market, the capital’s prices align closely with national trends, with dedicated desks at €295 and meeting rooms priced at €35 per hour.
