Cyprus is once again welcoming remote workers from around the world with the reopening of its Digital Nomad Visa program. This visa offers professionals who work online the chance to live in one of the Mediterranean’s most scenic and sunny locations — all while continuing their careers remotely.
With a limited number of spots available, the program is designed for non-EU nationals who want to enjoy a flexible work-life setup in a stable, affordable, and well-connected European country, according to Mondaq.
This visa is targeted at people who can work from anywhere — whether they’re freelancers, business owners with international clients, or employees of companies based outside of Cyprus.
To be eligible, applicants must:
- Work remotely for a foreign employer or run a business that serves clients abroad.
- Earn at least €3,500 per month after taxes.
- Show proof of health insurance and a clean criminal record.
- Have a place to live in Cyprus.
Approved applicants will receive a residence permit valid for 12 months, with the option to renew for up to two more years, allowing a total stay of three years.
Applicants can also bring close family members, such as a spouse or partner and children under 18, to live with them in Cyprus for the same duration.
Additionally, those who spend more than 183 days per year in Cyprus and don’t pay taxes in another country may qualify for Cypriot tax residency, which comes with certain financial perks.
How to Apply
Those interested must enter Cyprus legally (usually with a tourist visa) and apply for the Digital Nomad Visa within 90 days. The application includes documentation such as proof of remote work, income, housing, health insurance, and a background check.
