Innovation Takes Center Stage As CEOs Double Down On AI

Globally, confidence in AI’s ability to enhance business models is rising quickly, with most leaders expecting returns within three years.

According to KPMG’s latest study, artificial intelligence has emerged as a top priority for business leaders, viewed not just as a technology but as a critical driver of transformation.

In Ireland, 63% of CEOs see AI as a key investment despite economic uncertainty, with many planning significant budget allocations. Globally, confidence in AI’s ability to enhance business models is rising quickly, with most leaders expecting returns within three years.

However, companies face challenges around ethical use, data readiness, regulation, and workforce preparedness. Effective AI adoption requires strong governance and a clear link to business outcomes.

Navigating Workforce Changes and Talent

As technology reshapes work, workforce planning is crucial. Most CEOs expect team growth in the coming years but worry about over-reliance on AI automation and skills gaps. Upskilling and continuous learning are essential to help employees adapt and thrive.

Businesses are focusing on retraining high-potential staff and hiring AI talent, while balancing technological advances with cultural impact. The influx of younger, digitally fluent workers alongside retiring experienced employees creates challenges in knowledge transfer and cultural integration.

Evolving Work Environments and Hybrid Models

Leaders recognize that hybrid work is a strategic tool to attract and retain talent. Many expect a blend of in-office and remote work to become the norm, offering flexibility that boosts job satisfaction and productivity.

Organizations are adapting workspace designs, schedules, and technologies to meet these changing expectations, linking flexibility to broader goals like diversity and access to labor markets.

Innovation Requires More Than Technology

Ultimately, innovation hinges on clarity — knowing what business you’re truly in and staying attuned to what customers value today and tomorrow. While technology may be the catalyst, long-term success depends on cultivating a culture that challenges assumptions, listens to the market, and connects insights across the organization.
