Less Than Half Of U.S. Professionals Feel In Control Of Their Careers

A recent survey by LinkedIn reveals that only 45% of Americans feel they currently have control over their career paths.

Employees in customer support (33%), media and communications (36%), and marketing (39%) are among the least likely to feel in control of their careers.

A recent survey by LinkedIn reveals that only 45% of Americans feel they currently have control over their career paths. 

Professionals in business development (59%), healthcare (57%), and accounting (56%) report the highest levels of career control. Workers in HR (55%) and real estate (53%) also express relatively strong confidence in managing their professional trajectories.

By contrast, employees in customer support (33%), media and communications (36%), and marketing (39%) are among the least likely to feel in control of their careers. 

Analysts suggest that ongoing changes in these sectors, including the growing impact of AI and job market dynamics, may be contributing factors.
