Meeting Rooms Rank As The Most-Wanted Flexible Workspace Feature

Occupiers across Europe, Asia Pacific, the U.S., and the U.K. consistently place high value on reliable meeting space.

Meeting rooms have become the most sought-after feature among flexible office users worldwide, according to new findings from Workthere, analyzed within Savills’ Impacts program. Occupiers across Europe, Asia Pacific, the U.S., and the U.K. consistently place high value on reliable meeting space, showing a transition toward hybrid work and dispersed teams, according to Savills.

Beyond this shared priority, preferences begin to diverge. Users in Europe, Asia Pacific, and the U.K. place strong importance on access to phone booths and dedicated collaboration areas — features that support privacy and team alignment in hybrid models.

North American occupiers, however, show less urgency around these elements.

Hybrid Work Drives Demand for Higher-Quality Environments

Changing work patterns are reshaping what companies look for in flexible workspace. As hybrid schedules solidify, businesses increasingly expect environments that offer choice, support teamwork, and deliver a higher standard of service.

Deel - Upgrade your global team management

Wellness, convenience, and the ability to host client or team gatherings have moved from perks to expectations, pushing providers to upgrade their offerings.

Sustainability Matters, Especially in Europe and Asia Pacific

Environmental performance is emerging as a defining factor in several regions. Most occupiers across Asia Pacific and Europe, including the U.K., now consider sustainability credentials important when selecting a flexible office.

This spans both building-level certifications and practical amenities that encourage greener commuting — such as bike storage, showers, and other end-of-trip facilities that support both lifestyle preferences and talent retention.

North America Prioritizes Amenities Over Green Features

North American operators report a more mixed stance on sustainability, with many members expressing neutrality toward green features. Instead, parking availability and on-site fitness spaces rank higher than in other global markets, illustrating a different set of lifestyle and commuting patterns that influence tenant decisions.

Flex Providers Expand Offerings as User Profiles Broaden

As the flexible office sector attracts a wider range of members — from startups to large enterprises — operators and landlords are diversifying their products. The market now spans everything from fully serviced suites to agile, pass-based access models.

Despite regional variations, one thread is clear: occupiers are gravitating toward workplaces that support interaction, support hybrid workflows, and provide well-considered amenities that help people work together more effectively.
