IWG Moves to Acquire Design Offices and Add 50 German Sites to Its 4,000-Location Network

Flexible workplace operator International Workplace Group is working to acquire Design Offices, with the transaction currently being assessed by Germany’s federal competition regulator. No additional details will be released until the review concludes, according to Coworking Europe.

A national operator with corporate clientele

Global network strategy

IWG operates roughly 4,000 locations in more than 120 countries and reported around $3.7 billion in revenue in 2024. The company has historically expanded by absorbing regional operators and integrating them into its wider platform of coworking and serviced office brands.

Adding a German operator would expand coverage in one of Europe’s largest flexible workspace markets while combining local relationships with international distribution.

More and more, providers are scaling networks to match hybrid work patterns, shorter lease expectations and demand for managed workplace services.

If approved, the deal would continue the transition of office real estate away from single-building ownership toward multi-location workplace networks designed for distributed teams.
