Monster Report Reveals The Most In-Demand Jobs and Fastest-Growing Hiring Markets

Healthcare roles lead employer demand while hiring growth broadens across Midwest metros.

GUAYNABO, P.R., July 13, 2026 – Monster® today released its Q2 2026 Monster Market Report, offering new insights into the occupations, industries, and regions driving hiring activity across the U.S. labor market. The report analyzes employer job postings, candidate search activity, and geographic hiring trends to identify where demand is strongest and how hiring patterns are evolving.
Healthcare continued to account for the largest share of employer demand during the second quarter, led by nursing, therapy, and imaging occupations. Transportation and sales roles remained among the most actively recruited positions, while several Midwest metros posted some of the strongest quarter-over-quarter hiring gains in Monster job posting activity. Overall posting volumes suggest a labor market that has largely stabilized, with hiring rebounding seasonally from Q1 but remaining below the elevated levels seen in prior years.
“Understanding where employers are hiring and where job seekers are focusing their attention provides valuable insight into how the labor market is evolving,” said Vicki Salemi, Monster Career Expert. “While healthcare remains a dominant source of demand, employers continue to actively recruit for transportation, sales, logistics, customer service, and other roles that keep businesses operating and growing.”

Key Findings:

  • Healthcare remained the largest source of Monster job postings during the second quarter, with nursing-related occupations generating more job postings than any other profession. Demand for permanent nursing roles, including registered nurses, operating room nurses, and labor and delivery nurses, increased quarter over quarter, while travel nursing demand continued to moderate. Together, these trends point to a healthcare hiring market increasingly driven by permanent staffing needs.
  • Beyond healthcare, transportation, logistics, and sales continued to generate strong employer demand. Truck driver, delivery driver, sales representative, and retail sales positions ranked among the most-posted occupations during the quarter, underscoring ongoing hiring across the operational roles that keep businesses moving and serving customers.
  • Candidate search activity remains concentrated in broadly accessible roles. The most-searched job titles included customer service representative, warehouse worker, administrative assistant, data entry clerk, delivery driver, and receptionist; roles that offer multiple entry points and are widely available across industries.
  • Several Midwest metros were among the fastest-growing hiring markets on Monster during the second quarter. Hiring activity increased in Saint Paul and Minneapolis, while Cincinnati, Milwaukee, Dayton, and Indianapolis also posted strong gains. Major coastal and Sun Belt markets continued to account for the highest overall posting volumes, reflecting the continued concentration of hiring activity in the nation’s largest labor markets.

Most-Posted Jobs on Monster in Q2 2026

The following occupations and occupational groups generated the highest volume of employer job postings during the quarter. The major occupational groups represented below all experienced quarter-over-quarter growth of at least 10%.
  1. Nursing Occupations
  2. Truck & Delivery Drivers
  3. Sales Representatives
  4. Physical & Occupational Therapists
  5. Imaging Technologists
  6. Retail Sales
  7. Software & IT Engineers
  8. Cooks & Food Prep
  9. Security Officers
  10. Dentists and Dental Hygienists
  11. Customer Service
  12. Home & Personal Care
  13. Warehouse & Logistics
  14. Respiratory Therapists
  15. Speech-Language Pathologists
Key takeaway: Healthcare occupations continued to dominate employer demand, reflecting ongoing staffing needs across hospitals, outpatient clinics, rehabilitation centers, and other care settings. Beyond healthcare, many of the most-posted occupations were operational roles that support the movement of goods, delivery of services, and day-to-day business activity, including transportation, sales, customer service, retail, and logistics positions.

Top Job Title Searches by Candidates

The most searched job titles included:
  1. Customer Service Representative
  2. Warehouse Worker
  3. Sales Representative
  4. Administrative Assistant
  5. Data Entry Clerk
  6. Delivery Driver
  7. Receptionist
  8. Registered Nurse
  9. Healthcare Professional
  10. Data Engineer
Key takeaway: Job seeker interest remains concentrated in broadly accessible occupations that offer multiple pathways into employment. While employers are hiring most aggressively for healthcare and specialized roles, candidates continue to search heavily for customer service, warehouse, administrative, and delivery positions, which may indicate a gap between where employer demand is strongest and where many workers are focusing their searches.

Geographic Hiring Trends

Several Midwest metros emerged among the fastest-growing hiring markets in Q2 2026:
  • Minneapolis, MN
  • Saint Paul, MN
  • Cincinnati, OH
  • Milwaukee, WI
  • Dayton, OH
  • Indianapolis, IN
At the same time, the nation’s largest labor markets continued to generate the highest overall job posting volumes:
  • New York, NY
  • Atlanta, GA
  • Houston, TX
  • Seattle, WA
  • Dallas, TX
Sun Belt hiring remained strong, with several of the region’s largest markets continuing to post both high hiring volumes and meaningful growth:
  • Dallas, TX
  • Charlotte, NC
  • Phoenix, AZ
  • Austin, TX
Key takeaway: Hiring demand remains strongest in the nation’s largest labor markets, but growth was not limited to traditional Sun Belt hotspots. Several Midwest metros posted some of the strongest gains in Q2, suggesting employer demand is broadening across regions even as overall hiring remains concentrated in major economic centers.
Overall, Monster’s Q2 data suggests the labor market remains active but increasingly balanced. Hiring growth was relatively stronger across several Midwest markets during Q2. Healthcare continues to generate the largest share of employer demand, while transportation, sales, customer service, and logistics remain essential hiring categories. Monster data reflects employer activity on the Monster marketplace and is intended to provide directional insight into hiring patterns rather than measure total U.S. employment.
