IWG Targets Net Zero By 2040 Across Its Global Workspace Network

IWG’s six climate and nature targets cover emissions, renewable energy, waste, water, suppliers and deforestation across its global network.

International Workplace Group (IWG) has published its first sustainability report, laying out new climate, nature and supply-chain targets for its global flexible workspace network.

The 2025 report covers IWG’s operations across more than 120 countries and more than 6,000 signed locations. The company operates brands including Regus, Spaces, HQ and Signature.

The report sets out six climate and nature targets, with the company aiming to reach net-zero greenhouse gas emissions across its value chain by 2040.

IWG Sets Science-Based Emissions Targets

IWG said its near- and long-term emissions targets were validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) in April 2026.

The company plans to cut absolute Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 50% by 2030 from a 2024 baseline. It also plans to reduce Scope 3 emissions from several categories by 52% per dollar of value added over the same period.

By 2040, IWG aims to reduce absolute Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions by 90% from its 2024 baseline and address the remaining 10% through removals.

The company also plans to source 100% renewable energy across centers where it has operational control by 2030.

Waste, Water And Deforestation Targets

IWG’s environmental targets extend beyond emissions.

The company plans to divert 75% of operational waste from landfill by 2030 at centers where it has operational control. It also aims to cut water consumption per occupied square meter by 30% over the same period, using 2024 as its baseline.

The company plans to comply with the European Union Deforestation Regulation by 2027 and achieve zero deforestation across its global supply chain by 2030.

Suppliers Become A Major Focus

IWG says it works with about 11,000 suppliers, which account for roughly 60% of its total greenhouse gas emissions.

The company introduced a Supply Chain Engagement Strategy in 2025 that focuses on supplier sustainability performance, including environmental practices, human rights and responsible sourcing.

IWG said selected suppliers will begin providing feedback as the strategy rolls out across its global supply chain from the fourth quarter of 2026.

The company also requires suppliers to follow its Supplier Code of Conduct, which covers areas including legal compliance, employee treatment, workplace safety, environmental protection and support for local communities.

IWG Links Flexibility To Sustainability

The report also positions flexible and hybrid working as part of IWG’s sustainability argument.

IWG says its network can help reduce commuting and associated emissions, with the company citing potential carbon-emissions reductions of up to 90% in some circumstances.

The report also highlights the potential benefits of flexible working for employee wellbeing, productivity and work-life balance.
