AI’s Biggest Workplace Winners Are The Workers Who Were Already Ahead

Seventy percent of AI users earning at least $10,000 a month say the technology helps them work faster, compared with 58% of those earning less than $4,000.

U.S. workers who use AI most often say it helps them work faster and find more creative solutions, but the benefits are not being shared evenly across the workforce.

New findings from Gallup show that 63% of AI users say the technology helps them work faster, while 56% say it helps them find more creative solutions. Another 47% say AI gives them more time to focus on the most interesting parts of their jobs, and 46% say it improves their work quality.

College Graduates Are More Likely To Use AI

Regular AI use remains concentrated among workers who already tend to have greater access to higher-quality jobs. Just 28% of U.S. employees said they use AI daily or weekly, while 54% said they have never used it in their role. College graduates are more than twice as likely as workers without a degree to use AI regularly, at 40% versus 17%. Managers also have higher usage rates than individual contributors, at 37% versus 25%.

AI use varies sharply by industry. Roughly half of workers in professional and business services, financial activities, and information and media use AI regularly, while 70% to more than 80% of workers in healthcare support, manufacturing production and retail sales never use it.

Frequent Users Report Bigger Gains

Workers who use AI daily or weekly are substantially more likely to report benefits than occasional users.

Among regular users, 79% say AI helps them work faster, compared with 38% of infrequent users. Sixty-seven percent say it helps them find more creative solutions, while 59% say it improves work quality and 61% say it gives them more time for interesting work.

Higher-paid workers also report stronger productivity gains. Seventy percent of AI users earning at least $10,000 per month say AI helps them work faster, compared with 58% of those earning less than $4,000.

The study also found that 52% of regular AI users have what researchers classify as a quality job, compared with 32% of employees who never use AI. The researchers caution that this relationship needs further study because the same groups already more likely to hold quality jobs are also more likely to use AI
