Social media giant Twitter has officially kicked off the reopening of its offices, but employees inevitably get a say whether they return or not.
Starting March 15, the company will reopen its offices, with business travel relaunching immediately according to CEO Parag Agrawal.
However, Agrawal emphasized a message the company has abided by since the early days of the pandemic: workers will never be forced to come into the workplace.
“Wherever you feel most productive and creative is where you will work and that includes working from home full-time forever,” Agrawal said in a tweet. “Distributed working will be much, much harder…There will be lots of challenges in the coming months, and we’ll need to be proactive, intentional, learn, and adapt.”
Agrawal noted that the most popular work option among staff has been a hybrid approach, which sees employees come into the office a few days a week.
This announcement comes nearly two years after Twitter first told staff to start working from home.
Since the beginning of 2022, companies in the technology world have finally started to move forward with their return-to-office plans after multiple postponements caused by waves of Covid-19.
While several of these companies are adopting a hybrid approach, Twitter is one of a few that is committing to providing workers with full-time remote work positions.
