According to new data from career site Ladders, remote working will continue to play a significant role for knowledge workers even after the pandemic has subsided.
The report analyzed over five million job postings from January 2020 to February 2022, and showed that there are 108% more remote jobs available compared to the total jobs available in San Francisco.
The top five cities for available knowledge work positions were:
- San Francisco
- New York
- Washington D.C.
- Boston
- Los Angeles
Cities that saw the largest potential for professional growth also saw the highest number of remote positions. However, following closely behind were smaller cities in the US and Canada that saw triple-digit growth in the number of available professional jobs including:
- Rochester, MN
- St. John, NB
- Quebec City, QC
- Calgary, AB
- Tri-Cities, WA
- Peoria, IL
- Lafayette, LA
- Austin, TX
- Minot, ND
- Eugene, OR
“Cities that have obvious attractions have long been magnets for talent,” said Marc Cenedella, CEO of Ladders. “It’s the cities that seem constrained or challenged that will be the biggest beneficiaries of the trend to remote work.”
