Industrious has signed a deal to open three new locations across the Washington D.C. area in an effort to support post-pandemic hybrid work policies.

The three spaces are being opened in partnership with Carr Properties and join another Industrious location that Industrious secured earlier this year.

With this pace of growth, Industrious is inching closer to being the second largest coworking provider in the region.

Industrious’ new expansion in the D.C. area totals 89,000 square feet and 270 private offices.

The new locations feature a 25,068 square foot space in Bethesda, Maryland, as well as a 40,456 square foot space on L Street Northwest, and a 23,747 square foot space near Union Market.

Each location is slated to open by the end of the year.

Industrious has been one of few coworking operators that has gained traction in recent months following the office return transition many companies and even the federal government are undergoing.

“In the last year, I would tell you the conversation has changed dramatically in how people look at flex space,” said Peri Demestihas, senior director of real estate growth at Industrious. “It used to be a ‘nice-to-have’ amenity, but now it’s something that landlords see their tenants need, which is a game-changer for the industry. Tenants want the flexibility for more space, and so they’re demanding it.”
