According to a report from Passport Photo Online, 24 million Americans have intentions of becoming digital nomads in the next few years. However, to become a digital nomad, many factors need to be taken into consideration including income, healthcare, and climate impact.
Luckily for this growing number of traveling professionals, Google has expanded its tools that help consumers adopt more sustainable traveling practices.
The updates complement Google’s established tools that help consumers find more eco-friendly travel options.
With the new features, consumers can filter their flight and hotel searches to exclude any non-environmentally friendly choices.
Google Flights now has a “Low Emissions” filter, which only shows consumers flights that release the least amount of emissions, while hotels can be filtered through an “eco-certified” option.
In addition to identifying the best flight and hotel options, Google has simplified booking train travel, which is a more sustainable mode of traveling compared to planes and cars.
By working alongside various organizations such as the U.S. Green Building Council, Google is giving digital nomads a chance to make more conscious decisions when traveling, while also gaining better insight into how the uptick in digital nomadism could impact the environment.
