What’s going on:
At the launch of her Business Taskforce for Early Childhood, the Princess of Wales/future Queen of England, Kate Middleton, encouraged business leaders to put wellbeing in the workplace as a top priority in order to foster harmony between home and work life.
Why it matters:
Addressing a room full of top business leaders at NatWest’s London HQ, the princess declared that there are two key elements needed to fundamentally alter society and its future, according to the Evening Standard.
“The first is to prioritize creating working environments that provide the support and training your workforce needs to cultivate and maintain its own social and emotional wellbeing. The second is a more concentrated effort in supporting the social and emotional development of our youngest children because, as with most human development, the key time to build these social and emotional skills in the first place is in the first five years,” she said.
How it’ll impact the future:
She hopes that the global companies who have joined her cause will set a precedent and encourage change amongst firms all over the country, allowing them to empower their employees and promote their psychological and social wellbeing.
The taskforce will reconvene in the autumn to devise an action plan.
