What’s going on:
IWG Spaces has signed an agreement with Mapfre to create the largest flexible workspace in Spain – called “Spaces Bernabeu”, according to Nation World News. The new space is set to open in 2025 and will be located in a prime area between Paseo de la Castellana and Avenida del General Perón, opposite the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium.
Why it matters:
There is a growing need for adaptable workspaces that cater to hybrid workers who split their time between home, central offices, and flexible workspaces. Nation World News reports that the Space Bernabeau project will accommodate 180 offices for more than 900 jobs. The agreement between IWG Spaces and Mapfre will involve a 12,480 square meter building.
The Spaces Bernabeu project will involve a complete renovation of the building to meet the needs of these hybrid workers
How it’ll impact the future:
There is a growing shift towards more flexible and cost-effective work solutions in 2023. More companies adopt hybrid work models, and it looks like the demand for flexible workspaces – like those offered by IWG – will continue to grow. This trend could lead to a shift in the way office spaces are designed and utilized, with a greater emphasis on customization and adaptability to suit the needs of various businesses and industries.
Nation World News reported that IWG plans to add 1,000 new locations worldwide – with the hybrid model offering companies an average saving of €11,000 per employee. As the demand for flexible workspaces continues, we can expect to see more developments like Spaces Bernabeu shaping the future of work and transforming the way businesses operate.
