Experts Advise Strategic AI Adoption To Ease Employee Anxiety

Generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) is becoming more widely used in the workforce, and as its popularity rises, experts are advocating for more strategic adoption.

Gartner, a global research and advisory firm, predicts that by 2027 the productivity value of AI will become a primary economic indicator of national power, suggesting the technology’s integral role in shaping economic landscapes.

Experts with Gartner are stressing the importance of clear communication from executives regarding internal AI deployments to better manage AI anxiety among employees and prevent potential turnover. According to an analysis published by Computer Weekly, the adoption of GenAI tools is expected to drive a 1,000% increase in unionization among knowledge workers by 2028 — as it may lead to job displacement. Vice-analyst at Gartner Daryl Plummer is encouraging CIOs and executive leaders to embrace the associated risks of using Generative AI in order to harness its benefits.

Major governments are also recognizing AI’s importance, incorporating it into national planning and enacting regulations to support AI initiatives. This national-level implementation is anticipated to enhance productivity and build up the digital economy.

For CIOs and IT leaders, GenAI offers practical solutions for managing older legacy systems. Gartner predicts a 70% reduction in modernization costs by 2027. GenAI tools will help facilitate the understanding and replacement of legacy business applications.

The rise of GenAI also introduces risks, particularly in the form of malinformation. Gartner advises companies to closely monitor bad actors and regulators, and to adopt tools and technologies to combat malinformation.

While GenAI presents substantial opportunities for innovation and efficiency, it also requires careful management of associated risks — particularly concerning workforce displacement and information integrity. These risks are expected to persist in the coming years.
