Azerbaijan Plans Digital Nomad Visa For Remote Workers

Income requirements, visa length and fees remain unknown as Azerbaijan prepares to amend its immigration rules.

Azerbaijan plans to introduce a digital nomad visa for foreign remote workers, creating a dedicated route for professionals earning income from outside the country.

The program is included in Azerbaijan’s 2026-2030 State Program for Tourism Development and is expected to launch electronically in 2027 or 2028. The government plans to study similar programs and amend its Migration Code before launching the visa, according to the Nomads Embassy.

Visa Details Have Yet to Be Set

Azerbaijan has not announced the visa’s income requirements, validity period, fees or other eligibility rules.

The planned program, also referred to as a “digital traveler” visa, is part of a broader effort to attract international professionals and develop the country’s digital economy. The government is also considering a separate Digital Talent Visa and potential tax, residency and social insurance incentives.

For now, remote workers must use Azerbaijan’s existing entry options. Eligible travelers can apply for the country’s ASAN eVisa, while citizens of certain countries can enter visa-free under existing or temporary arrangements.

The planned visa would give remote workers a longer-term immigration option specifically designed around working for foreign companies and clients.
