Only 41% Of U.S. Workers Have Quality Jobs, According To Gallup

Workers who use AI at least weekly are more likely to hold quality jobs than those who never use it, though the study does not prove AI use causes better job quality.

Just 41% of U.S. workers hold quality jobs, with many facing gaps in pay, career advancement, scheduling and fair treatment, according to a report by Gallup.

The report defines quality jobs as those offering fair pay and benefits, safe and respectful workplaces, growth opportunities, employee input and sustainable schedules.

Unfair Treatment Remains a Workplace Problem

One in four employees reported experiencing discrimination or unfair treatment, according to the study. The findings point to gaps in workplace fairness alongside challenges involving compensation, advancement and scheduling.

Workers in quality jobs also reported better health outcomes. They missed 15% fewer workdays due to illness or injury than employees in jobs that did not meet the study’s quality standards.

AI Use Is Linked to Higher Job Quality

The study also found a connection between AI use and job quality. Among employees who used AI at least weekly, 52% held quality jobs, compared with 32% of those who never used the technology.

The findings show an association between AI use and job quality, but do not establish that using AI leads to better jobs.
