Coworking firm Second Home has opened its fourth branch in London, designed by Madrid-based studio Cano Lasso.
The space features a nursery and outdoor play area in order to become more family-friendly. It is inspired by the work of German architect Frei Otto, who was known for creating tensile structures covered in see-through membranes.
“Too many buildings have grey facades that deaden the landscape,” said cofounder Rohan Silva. “We tried to create an external environment that will have people wondering in saying ‘what is this place?’”
This London Fields location features a cafe and seating area on the ground level with tangerine-colored floors and polycarbonate walls. The workroom also has textured orange walls and tables that can be stored in circular niches in the ceiling using a pulley system.
The space also has private pods with mid-century arm chairs for individual work and studio-style workspaces that can accommodate teams of up to 40 people.
Weaved throughout the area are over 500 leafy plants and trees, a biophilic approach seen at its other branches.
Second Home is expected to open its campus-style Los Angeles branch in September.
