Despite WeWork’s woes shaking up the coworking world, Boston’s flexible office market is expected to maintain a strong presence.

Now, the sector takes up 1.7% of total office stock in the area, just behind the national average of 1.8%.
The largest operator in the area is WeWork, who increased its Boston footprint by over 90% in the past 12 months to 1.511 million square feet.
Regus comes in second with a footprint of 364,000 square feet. Industrious also grew its presence in Boston over the past year and now takes up 112,000 square feet in the area.
Driving this growth is Boston’s flourishing technology industry and startup community, which often flock to coworking spaces due to their affordability and flexibility.
