As we approach the new year, companies looking to attract and retain top talent need to adopt strategies to remain competitive in the evolving workforce. Here are some of the hiring trends to look out for in 2020.
Technology will rule normal hiring processes, so Jeff Berger, CEO of Talent Inc., predicts that digital recruitment innovation, AI and tech-centered marketing will take over interviewing potential talent.
Workers will start valuing benefits over pay in the next year as well. While pay is still important, employees prefer good health insurance, unlimited vacation policies and flexible schedules even more.
Diversity in the workplace will also take the front seat in hiring policies, especially the inclusion of several generations.
“Human resources departments will be tasked with staffing teams that include a wide range of diverse talent and backgrounds, ultimately bringing together bright minds with different generational perspectives that will work together cohesively,” said Ronnie Zehavi, CEO of Hibob.
Recruiters will also start using AI tools in order to evaluate their candidate pool’s competency, job-knowledge and technical-skills.
One of the biggest trends will be the adoption of flexible schedules across the board. In fact, according to IWG’s 2019 annual survey, 50% of employees are already working outside of their company’s headquarters half of the time.
“While flexible work environments are not new, 2020 will be the year that they begin to normalize for both employees and employers,” said Berger. “This will allow employers to fill more project-based, temporary, and freelance opportunities while reducing costs, and eliminate the geographical restrictions that prohibit them from finding the perfect match.”
