Coworking companies have had to be creative in their services amidst the current pandemic as millions of workers work from home and their facilities stay vacant.

Texas-based coworking firm Common Desk has taken the virtual route by launching a pay-what-you-can work from home membership to provide members with resources when working remotely.

“This new virtual coworking membership is designed to meet the digital workforce where they are and provide all types of professionals with a sense of human connection, a plethora of resources, access to dedicated support, genuine words of encouragement and new friendships, as we go,” said Nick Clark, founder and CEO of Common Desk.

According to Clark, the program has boosted the company’s Slack community, as well as “social distancing clubs” and numerous virtual events.

Once the dust has settled, Clark expects the demand for flexible workspaces to grow. For Common Desk in particular, it will be reopening its facilities in stages and implementing various operational changes. For instance, members should expect to see one-way hallways, signage that encourages physical distancing, reminders to wear face masks, workstations that are distanced, limited shared amenities and more.
