Japanese technology firm Fujitsu has announced its new “Work Life Shift” initiative that aims to offer its employees flexibility and remote working as their first option. Along with this program, the company is cutting its office space in half.
The company revealed that it hopes by doing this, it can create a workplace culture that encourages productivity and drives innovation for workers. To begin, employees will have the choice to work from home, which will lead to benefits such as cutting down on commutes, retaining top talent and more.
Large companies have already started to see the advantages of transitioning to a more flexible workforce, and the future of the workplace is looking increasingly asynchronous.
Several organizations have already shared their intention of moving towards a remote workforce for at least the rest of the year, and that could extend on into 2021.
If the past few months have taught the workforce anything, it’s that the workplace does not mean an office or a desk. It is the technology that allows them to be wherever and work whenever an employee is most productive.
