WeWork has partnered with New York City’s five boroughwide chambers of commerce to provide members discounted office space in an effort to bring workers back into the workplace.
The partnership aims to boost economic recovery in the city by encouraging workers to return to the office, thus helping industries that rely on these members as their customer base, such as retailers and restaurants.
“Large employers basically have indicated they’re not really in a hurry to bring their workers back,” said Jessica Walker, president and CEO of the Manhattan Chamber of Commerce. “We really need to focus on small businesses, doing everything we can to bring their workers back safely.”
Members of the chambers of commerce will be eligible for one month free for new members, then 15% off each month for up to one year for WeWork’s All Access subscription.
These discounts hope to ease any financial burden that small businesses are currently under, particularly when looking for new offices.
Through this partnership, the chambers will be able to receive data and insight on what is and isn’t working for the post-pandemic workplace, and how to improve their operations for the future.
WeWork also joined the Queens Chamber of Commerce’s Queens Tech Council, which focuses on enhancing the innovation and technology economy in the borough.
