Flexible workspace provider BizSpace has acquired the 118,000 sq ft Belvedere House in Basingstoke from AEW, significantly boosting its office portfolio in the region.
BizSpace was acquired by Varde Partners in 2015 and has focused on extending its number of UK-wide properties.
Belvedere House is already home to a number of businesses including charities and large corporates. The site has won design awards in recognition of its architectural style, particularly for the combination of offices with roof gardens and courtyards.
The high spec centre on Basing View will feature 20,000 sq ft of co-working space operated by Desk Lodge. The quirky, bright and colourful space will include office space and meeting rooms to allow its key markets of small and microbusinesses the opportunity to access flexible and affordable workspace as they grow and develop.
Serviced offices will be situated on the first floor and the remaining accommodation will comprise conventional office space, including numerous sizeable units to accommodate larger businesses.
Commercial director at BizSpace, Emma Long, said the aim was for Belvedere House to become a key business destination in the area.
“By adding high quality, funky co-working space we are creating a ‘go-to’ hub, to help the entrepreneurs and small business owners of Basingstoke to network, do business together and generally have a great time while running their companies,” she said.
“The site also offers a wide range of attractive office space and serviced offices, making it easy for companies to grow in line with their needs.
“We have had a huge number of enquiries already and we expect this site to become a hotbed for fresh business talent.”
Belvedere House features an unusual five storey atrium introducing plenty of natural light to the building. An on-site café provides refreshment and car parking facilities are available.
Richard Macartney, the firm’s head of acquisitions, added: “This is an exciting purchase for BizSpace. Basingstoke is extremely well located and a perfect location to create the foundations of our Hampshire hub.
“Previously, the site’s atrium and shared spaces had not been fully utilised. The site is a gem, which, with our skill set, we can energise and really bring to life. Adding activities to the communal areas will benefit occupiers and provide an excellent selling point.”
