The Cisco Webex event ‘The Future of HR: A Collaboration of Ideas’ held in Hub Hyde Park showcased new ideas and ways of approaching the HR field by established leaders in the industry.
TV personality and emcee David Koch said that the trend of modern offices and new technology are paving the path towards more collaborative atmospheres. The expansion of collaborative offices boosts creativity and breeds better workplace cultures.
Brad Krauskopf, CEO and founder of coworking firm Hub Australia, said that its spaces provide a flexible office for startups and aid in combating isolation that can come with these roles.
He said that the industry has been given a boost by remote workers, who often find a haven at coworking spaces, and companies have followed suit. Now, companies and freelancers are seeking out spaces that cut out expensive leases and encourages actual growth.
“You can no longer have an OK place to work; it has to be an amazing place to work,” said Krauskopf.
While Krauskopf is skeptical about the industry’s viability as commercial enterprises, he believes that coworking will continue to expand across major markets in Australia.
Zach Kitschke, head of community at online graphic design platform Canva, said that HR needs to be less about corporate and more about meeting human needs as people tend to repel being sold to.
