IWG has signed its first franchise agreement in Scotland in order to meet growing demand for flexible workspaces.
The new agreement will service suburbs and towns in the Central Belt area to shorten lengthy commutes to cities like Edinburgh and Glasgow. The deal will include three centers in Lanarkshire, which will open between now and 2024.
IWG has noted a spike in flexible office demand, specifically seeing a 20% to 25% increase in inquiries for its centers during the last quarter.
The franchise expansion will see partnerships with Tommy Nevin, an experienced franchisee in the area; Graeme Orr, a project management consultant; as well as Tony McCabe and Scott Gibson, both operations directors.
“We’ve seen the demand soar considerably around the world in 2021 with more than a 350 percent increase in new locations committed by franchise partners so far this year, compared to the same period in 2020,” said Julian Chambers, Head of Franchise at IWG UK & Ireland. “Our UK partnerships have played a huge part in this and now, we are delighted to bring the opportunity to Scotland where there is still plenty of unmet demand across the country.”
