The separation between work and life has quickly become a priority for most workers around the world. Now, this company is committing to respecting these boundaries with a new policy.
Mumbai-based fantasy sports platform Dream11 has revealed that employees who disturb colleagues while on vacation could face a fine of up to 100,000 rupees (around $1,200).
“Once a year, for one week, you’re kicked out of the system,” Bhavit Sheth told CNBC about the company’s mandatory time off. “You don’t have Slack, emails and calls. Because it helps you greatly to have that one week of uninterrupted time and it helps the business to know whether we’re dependent on anyone.”
Repercussions for interrupting time away from the office is a bold move, but one that has had a positive impact according to Sheth.
Giving workers a distinct divide between their mandated time off and their work tasks makes it so they can truly unwind and disconnect, and come back to work fully rejuvenated.
