Flexible workspace provider Convene is set to open its largest flexible workspace at 30 Hudson Yards in New York City, with a strong focus on providing event spaces.
The new 72,000-square-feet on the 24th floor of the 101-story tower, plus 2,770 square feet on the ground floor for a dedicated lobby, targets the rising trend of providers offering spaces that cater to corporate events within coworking environments.
The launch, planned for summer 2025, will include a total of ten customizable event areas, a grand hall with a capacity of 780, and a gallery space — collectively capable of hosting nearly 1,500 guests.
“New York City continues to be a top-performing global destination for corporate meetings and events. Many of our existing clients are headquartered or have a significant presence at Hudson Yards and this opportunity allows us to better serve our global client base at one of the city’s iconic mixed-use destinations,” Brian Holland, head of real estate at Convene said.
There has been an industry-wide trend towards incorporating event venues in coworking facilities. Beyond offering versatile coworking workspaces, providers like Convene are increasingly leveraging event spaces to diversify revenue streams and build upon value offered to clients.
Event spaces provide a dual function, offering companies a place to work while also meeting the demand for venues to host corporate events, networking functions, and social gatherings.
Financially, this model is proving to be a strategic advantage for providers operating in high-rent areas, such as New York. Manhattan’s competitive coworking market has seen major players such as WeWork, IWG, and Industrious also integrate similar event spaces to cater to the high demand market.
Many industry experts agree that the success of niche coworking spaces relies heavily on their ability to adapt to changing industry needs and the quality of services they offer. This trend is expected to continue as specialized spaces, like event spaces, become more sought after for their tailored environments and supportive communities. Convene’s inclusion of large, flexible event spaces at 30 Hudson Yards positions the company to meet the changing demands of the industry, and it reflects the perceptions of the value proposition that people have when considering the price of signing onto a coworking space.
