Childcare for school-aged kids at Work.Life’s London coworking space filled up within minutes of its launch, showing a strong need for more flexible childcare solutions during school holidays.
This August, Work.Life’s Farringdon site is launching a free kids club called dream.play.grow, designed for children aged 3 to 12. Unlike typical workplace childcare focused on infants and toddlers, this program offers a full day of emotional skills workshops, storytelling, and creative activities to help kids build confidence and manage their emotions. Meanwhile, parents can stay productive on-site, according to Coworking Europe.
With summer childcare costs rising sharply — families now spend over £1,000 per child for six weeks off — working parents are increasingly searching for convenient options that fit their busy schedules. The 15 available spots were snapped up instantly, with a waiting list quickly forming, proving the demand for coworking spaces to offer childcare services tailored to older children.
Based on the strong response, Work.Life plans to expand similar initiatives to other locations. This reflects the growing pressure on working parents during school breaks and the opportunity for coworking providers to rethink how they support families beyond the traditional office setup.
