Apple Delays Return To Office, Commits To A More Flexible Environment

Apple has announced that it is again delaying its return-to-office date, joining the likes of Google and others who are postponing their return due to a spike in Covid-19 cases.

Previously, the technology giant said it would introduce a new hybrid work arrangement in February, but CEO Tim Cook now says that Apple will indefinitely delay their hybrid work pilot.

“Our offices remain open and many of our colleagues are coming in regularly, including our teams in Greater China and elsewhere,” said Cook.

Not only is Apple allowing employees to return to the office when they feel comfortable, the company is also offering workers $1,000 to go towards their work-from-home needs as part of its “commitment to a more flexible environment.”

HubStar - Business As Usual

After nearly two years of trying to navigate the best path forward, Apple finally understands that offering flexibility is key.

This is notable, as Apple appeared to be the tech company most eager to bring workers back into the office, which has led to backlash from both employees and the public.

Although the company undoubtedly wants workers back in the office, the firm is realizing that setting a specific date is unrealistic as the unpredictable health crisis lingers on and the Great Resignation becomes a larger concern for many organizations.
